Experience a small ship expedition, with just 50 passengers exploring the remote deep south of New Zealand.
Embark in Bluff, and sail the Foveaux Strait for Rakiura, Steward Island. With 85 percent of the island a National Park, this region is untouched and pristine, with coves, bays, beaches, forest and historical sites to explore, and simply to listen to the magical bird song. Look out for Bellbird, Tui, Kaka, Tomtit, Rifleman, Stewart Island Robin, Saddleback, Mohua, and of course, the Stewart Island Brown Kiwi (or Southern Tokoeka).
Journey through real Fiordland, much of which can only be reached by the coast, spending 3 days of exploration by boat, zodiac and on foot; Doubtful Sound, Dusky Sound, and Acheron Passage, Astronomer’s Point and Pickersgill Harbour are all on the agenda. The ice-carved valleys are majestic, the forests enchanted, and flora and fauna abundant. There are Fiordland Crested Penguins, Little Penguins, New Zealand Fur Seals, curious Dusky Dolphins, and the critically-endangered Kākāpō.
